Benchmark
I see how the various Buddhist sutras and Zen verses often function more as benchmarks than pointers. If you don't see it, they are obscure and confusing. If you see it, they become crystal clear and precise.
As long as I am exclusively identified with the small self, they make no sense. When I awaken as Big Mind, they are perfectly clear.
This is of course the case with many transdual writings, although especially so with many of the Buddhist ones - which seem designed to be confusing until you shift into Big Mind and finally get it.
